The Asia-Pacific vapour generating boiler market was estimated at $X in 2021, rising by 5.9% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. In value terms, vapour generating boiler production fell slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of vapour generating boilers increased by 16% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 50%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 80% of total exports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 14% share of total exports. Japan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vapour generating boilers exports, with a CAGR of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021. South Korea (-8.6%), India (-9.2%) and Japan (-12.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+29 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Japan, South Korea and India saw its share reduced by -7.1%, -7.1% and -7.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest vapour generating boiler supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 7% share.

In China, vapour generating boiler exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (-7.3% per year) and India (-12.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+1.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of vapour generating boilers increased by 48% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Indonesia (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) represented roughly 49% of total imports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons). All these countries together held near 25% share of total imports. Thailand (X tons), China (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), India (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Sri Lanka (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +26.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vapour generating boiler importing markets in Asia-Pacific were Bangladesh ($X), South Korea ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together comprising 53% of total imports. Thailand, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, Cambodia and Sri Lanka lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +28.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
