Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+88.8%), Vietnam (+23.7%), Thailand (+17.5%) and Japan (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +88.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +12.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+13.9% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-13.1% per year).

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, enamels and glazes imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Bangladesh (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) represented roughly 49% of total imports in 2021. Indonesia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by China (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons). All these countries together took near 42% share of total imports.

In value terms, China ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Bangladesh ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 34% of total imports. Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +55.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 2.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
