In 2021, approx. X units of women’s negligees, bathrobes and dressing gowns of knitted or crocheted textiles were exported in Asia-Pacific; increasing by 28% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 457%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, women’s bathrobe exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 92% of total exports in 2021. Vietnam (X units) and Bangladesh (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to women’s bathrobe exports from China stood at +7.4%. At the same time, Bangladesh (+32.6%) and Vietnam (+8.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +32.6% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Bangladesh increased by +2.1 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest women’s bathrobe supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 6.2% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +8.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+6.5% per year) and Bangladesh (+35.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 255% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

In 2021, women’s bathrobe imports in Asia-Pacific skyrocketed to X units, rising by 106% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, women’s bathrobe imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Malaysia represented the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 41% of total imports. South Korea (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 20% share, followed by Australia (13%), Japan (8.1%) and Hong Kong SAR (7.8%). The following importers - Thailand (X units) and China (X units) - each recorded a 5.3% share of total imports.

Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the women’s negligees, bathrobes and dressing gowns of knitted or crocheted textiles imports, with a CAGR of +80.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+41.7%), China (+27.0%), South Korea (+15.7%) and Australia (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-1.1%) and Japan (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand and China increased by +41, +8.1, +2.5 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Malaysia ($X), South Korea ($X) and Australia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 66% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +60.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, falling by -20.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by 15%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
