India (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Vietnam (12%), the Philippines (9.6%), China (7%), Myanmar (5.8%) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (5.6%).

Exports from Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (+37.3%), Vietnam (+35.9%), the Philippines (+29.9%), India (+22.7%) and China (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +37.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Myanmar (-8.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India, Vietnam, the Philippines and Lao People's Democratic Republic increased by +11, +10, +9.6 and +5 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X), China ($X) and Vietnam ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 71% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Lao People's Democratic Republic, India and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 23%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a CAGR of +43.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 5.2% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
