China dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 91% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Turkey (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - each amounted to a 4.1% share of total exports.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) exports, with a CAGR of +3.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Turkey (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Imports in Asia
In 2022, phosphinates and phosphonates imports in Asia reduced slightly to X tons, which is down by -3.1% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, phosphinates and phosphonates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Japan (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) represented the key importers of phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) in Asia, together constituting 41% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by India (9.2%), Israel (7.5%), Taiwan (Chinese) (6.2%) and Turkey (4.7%). Vietnam (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +38.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 53% share of total imports. India, Turkey, Indonesia, Israel, Thailand, Taiwan (Chinese), Singapore and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
Among the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +33.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 25% against the previous year. Import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, phosphinates and phosphonates import price increased by +79.4% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 41%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
