After two years of growth, the Asian photo camera market decreased by -12% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption posted a noticeable increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photo camera production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, photo camera exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 55%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X units) was the largest exporter of photographic (other than cinematographic) cameras, mixing up 55% of total exports. Thailand (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by the Philippines (9.2%) and Hong Kong SAR (7%). Japan (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +7.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -2.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 30%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Photo camera imports surged to X units in 2022, jumping by 30% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, photo camera imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +80.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Japan (X units), distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X units), South Korea (X units), China (X units) and India (X units) represented the largest importers of photographic (other than cinematographic) cameras, together mixing up 79% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units), Thailand (X units), Singapore (X units) and Indonesia (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
