Pile-Driver Market Size in Asia

For the sixth consecutive year, the Asian pile-driver market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -1.9% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption showed a pronounced decrease. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Pile-Driver Production in Asia

In value terms, pile-driver production rose slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the production volume increased by 6.8% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of pile-drivers and pile-extractors increased by 34% to X units, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 89%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, pile-driver exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +37.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Japan (X units) and China (X units) represented the major exporters of pile-drivers and pile-extractors in Asia, together resulting at approx. 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), creating a 12% share of total exports. The following exporters - Thailand (X units) and Singapore (X units) - together made up 7.5% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of +37.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest pile-driver supplier in Asia, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +1.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-0.5% per year) and Singapore (-3.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 36%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pile-driver imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

South Korea dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 75% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), making up a 5.5% share of total imports. The following importers - Vietnam (X units), Indonesia (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Thailand (X units) - together made up 13% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to pile-driver imports into South Korea stood at +16.5%. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+28.6%), Vietnam (+7.0%) and Singapore (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +28.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-1.6%) and Indonesia (-32.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Korea (+63 p.p.), Singapore (+3.4 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+3 p.p.) and Vietnam (+2.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Indonesia saw its share reduced by -73.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X), South Korea ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 47% of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +24.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 71%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
