In value terms, the largest pineapple juice (single strength) supplying countries in Asia were Cyprus ($X), Nepal ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), with a combined 57% share of total exports. Thailand, Vietnam, Kuwait, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +42.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Japan, Hong Kong SAR, Israel, South Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Kuwait and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +30.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 7.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
