Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +73.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, plastic household ware exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a strong increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 76% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), achieving a 9.6% share of total exports. The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), India (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up 6.4% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic household ware exports from China stood at +10.3%. At the same time, Turkey (+19.3%), Vietnam (+11.2%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.9%) and India (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +19.3% from 2012-2021. China (+8.1 p.p.) and Turkey (+5.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest plastic household ware supplier in Asia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 5.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 2.7% share.
In China, plastic household ware exports increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+16.7% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.4% per year).

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, Japan (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Israel (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) was the largest importer of plastics household articles and toilet articles in Asia, generating 70% of total import. Kuwait (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +13.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastics household articles and toilet articles in Asia, comprising 16% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7.8% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+8.0% per year) and South Korea (+12.3% per year).
