Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. China prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 53% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together creating a 26% share of total imports. Turkey (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to polyacetals imports into China stood at +7.5%. At the same time, Vietnam (+18.0%), Japan (+9.2%), India (+8.4%), Malaysia (+6.8%), Turkey (+6.7%), Indonesia (+4.4%), South Korea (+2.7%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012-2021. Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-4.4%) and Singapore (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Vietnam, India and Japan increased by +9.4, +3.1, +1.8 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polyacetals in primary forms in Asia, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with an 8.1% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 6.4% share.

In China, polyacetals imports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hong Kong SAR (-4.1% per year) and India (+9.0% per year).

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
