As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, room deodorants exports reached $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.1% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), Turkey (X tons), India (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together achieving a 45% share of total exports. The following exporters - Malaysia (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - each finished at a 3.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to room deodorants exports from China stood at +2.6%. At the same time, Vietnam (+18.9%), Japan (+12.2%), Malaysia (+3.8%) and Thailand (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +18.9% from 2012-2022. Turkey and India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +115.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, room deodorants imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Malaysia prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 56% of total imports in 2022. Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms imports, with a CAGR of +28.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Philippines (+13.2%), Thailand (+13.2%), China (+9.5%), Saudi Arabia (+7.6%), Hong Kong SAR (+4.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, South Korea (-1.1%), Japan (-1.8%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Malaysia (+46 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese) and Japan saw its share reduced by -2.9%, -7.4% and -12.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 46% share of total imports. China, Taiwan (Chinese), South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

China, with a CAGR of +13.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -45.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 31%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
