In 2022, the Asian prepared baking powder market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 21%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, prepared baking powder exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.3% against 2015 indices. The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and India (X tons) - each finished at a 13% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Thailand ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +18.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+9.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of prepared baking powders decreased by -4.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -5.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X tons), distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the largest importers of prepared baking powders, together creating 60% of total imports. Iraq (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Yemen (X tons), Japan (X tons), Oman (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the largest prepared baking powder importing markets in Asia were Saudi Arabia ($X), Indonesia ($X) and the Philippines ($X), together accounting for 53% of total imports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +41.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 8%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
