The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded X% of total exports. Sri Lanka (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Bangladesh (X%) and Turkey (X%). The following exporters - the Philippines (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), Afghanistan (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to primary fiber crops exports from India stood at X%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%), the Philippines (X%), Turkey (X%), Afghanistan (X%) and Sri Lanka (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Tajikistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, primary fiber crops imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons), distantly followed by Bangladesh (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), India (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the major importers of fiber crops (primary), together generating X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
