For the ninth year in a row, the Asian printers and copying machines market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -8% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with a decrease of -1.3%. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of printers, copying machines and facsimile machines increased by 47% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
China was the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 48% of total exports. The Philippines (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Vietnam (X units), Thailand (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units). All these countries together held near 37% share of total exports. Indonesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of printers, copying machines and facsimile machines. At the same time, the Philippines (+14.9%) and Thailand (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2021. Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Indonesia (-2.9%), Malaysia (-3.9%) and Hong Kong SAR (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (+8.6 p.p.), China (+3.7 p.p.) and Thailand (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia and Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -2.2% and -7.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest printers and copying machines supplier in Asia, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the Philippines, with an 8.8% share.
In China, printers and copying machines exports declined by an average annual rate of -1.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (-2.7% per year) and the Philippines (+16.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, waning by -1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 9.1% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of printers, copying machines and facsimile machines, when their volume increased by 50% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced decrease. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, printers and copying machines imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of printers and copying machines imports in 2021 were Hong Kong SAR (X units), Singapore (X units) and China (X units), together finishing at 49% of total import. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.2% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (6.2%), Japan (5.9%), Thailand (5.3%) and India (4.9%). South Korea (X units), Indonesia (X units), Vietnam (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +2.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest printers and copying machines importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 48% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan (Chinese) and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 40%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +3.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -4.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 12%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
