The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the yield reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.
In 2022, the harvested area of raspberries and blackberries in Asia reduced slightly to X ha, approximately equating the previous year's figure. In general, the harvested area, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 6.5%. For the fourth year in a row, Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of raspberries and blackberries, which increased by 118% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 122% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a prominent increase. Exports by Country
Kyrgyzstan was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 71% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons) and Turkey (X tons), together comprising a 20% share of total exports. The following exporters - India (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.8% share of total exports.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +34.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+125.4%), Armenia (+62.4%) and Turkey (+22.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +125.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, India (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+50 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+15 p.p.), Turkey (+4.8 p.p.) and Armenia (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of India (-57.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 51% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +116.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, falling by -50% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+21.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia
After six years of growth, purchases abroad of raspberries and blackberries decreased by -34% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 57%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports dropped notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Kuwait (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Japan (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) represented the largest importers of raspberries and blackberries, together generating 81% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +82.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Qatar ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 51% share of total imports.
Qatar, with a CAGR of +86.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -3% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
