In value terms, the largest refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 76% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, India and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.

Moreover, Taiwan (Chinese) emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +38.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Japan (-3.8%), India (-14.3%) and South Korea (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+33 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+3.5 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.5 p.p.), the Philippines (+1.9 p.p.), Mongolia (+1.7 p.p.), Malaysia (+1.6 p.p.) and Qatar (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while India, Japan and South Korea saw its share reduced by -7.4%, -10.7% and -15.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
