Turkey (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Philippines (X tons), India (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons). All these countries together held near 41% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths exports from China stood at -7.9%. At the same time, Oman (+54.1%), Turkey (+51.3%), the Philippines (+32.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+15.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 76% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, India and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.
Among the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +47.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.1% against the previous year. Export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, export price for refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths increased by +34.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 129% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 73%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports into Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +25.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Taiwan (Chinese) (+38.0%), Vietnam (+18.4%), Qatar (+11.5%), the Philippines (+9.6%), Kazakhstan (+9.6%), Mongolia (+9.1%), Malaysia (+7.1%), China (+6.7%) and Singapore (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Taiwan (Chinese) emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +38.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Japan (-3.8%), India (-14.3%) and South Korea (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+33 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+3.5 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.5 p.p.), the Philippines (+1.9 p.p.), Mongolia (+1.7 p.p.), Malaysia (+1.6 p.p.) and Qatar (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while India, Japan and South Korea saw its share reduced by -7.4%, -10.7% and -15.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths importing markets in Asia were Saudi Arabia ($X), Japan ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for 57% of total imports.
