Vietnam (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Iran (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, China ($X) emerged as the largest roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates supplier in Asia, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with an 11% share.

In China, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates exports increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Korea (+4.8% per year) and Thailand (+28.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +40.3% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the largest importers of roasted molybdenum ores and concentrateses in 2021, accounting for near 43% and 30% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by China (X tons) and India (X tons), together creating a 23% share of total imports.
