In value terms, coniferous roundwood exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 68%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 32%. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, coniferous roundwood imports declined significantly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then plummeted in the following year.

All these countries together held near 30% share of total imports.

Imports into China decreased at an average annual rate of -3.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+58.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +58.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Korea (-3.4%) and Japan (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan and China saw its share reduced by -2.6% and -3.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported roundwood (coniferous) in Asia, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 6.1% share.

In China, coniferous roundwood imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-0.2% per year) and South Korea (-3.4% per year).
