The following importers - Myanmar (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Japan ($X) and Iraq ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 33% of total imports. India, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Lebanon and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +19.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
