As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced descent. The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the seventh year in a row, Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of saturated acyclic hydrocarbons, which increased by 83% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 299%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 111%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) was the major importer of saturated acyclic hydrocarbons, creating 78% of total imports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), making up a 16% share of total imports. Japan (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports, with a CAGR of +63.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Japan (+51.8%) and India (+37.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of China (+58 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of India (-7.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported saturated acyclic hydrocarbons in Asia, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 27% share of total imports.

In China, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports expanded at an average annual rate of +36.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+27.5% per year) and Japan (+28.1% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -13.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year.
