The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest secateurs supplier in Asia, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China totaled +13.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.1% per year) and Vietnam (+23.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

For the third consecutive year, Asia recorded growth in purchases abroad of secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears, which increased by 24% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +93.3% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Indonesia (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) represented roughly 51% of total imports in 2021. China (X tons) held a 6.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by South Korea (5.4%), Iraq (4.7%) and Kazakhstan (4.6%). The following importers - India (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +114.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears in Asia, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+6.5% per year) and South Korea (+8.7% per year).
