Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X tons of self-adhesive printed labels were exported in Asia; reducing by -10.1% compared with the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, self-adhesive printed label exports reduced to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. China was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 63% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X tons), making up a 14% share of total exports. The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), India (X tons), Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) - together made up 17% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to self-adhesive printed label exports from China stood at +2.9%. At the same time, India (+9.5%), Turkey (+5.4%), Sri Lanka (+3.5%), the United Arab Emirates (+2.7%) and South Korea (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2022. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China and India increased by +9.6 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest self-adhesive printed label supplier in Asia, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +8.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hong Kong SAR (-2.4% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of self-adhesive printed labels imported in Asia fell to X tons, waning by -11.6% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, self-adhesive printed label imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Myanmar (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), India (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) were the main importers of self-adhesive printed labels, together mixing up 64% of total imports. China (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +35.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest self-adhesive printed label importing markets in Asia were Hong Kong SAR ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 41% share of total imports. China, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Malaysia and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
Among the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +16.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+8.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
