After five years of decline, the Asian ski-suit market increased by 7.7% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, saw a noticeable reduction. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) exported in Asia surged to X units, increasing by 20% on 2020 figures. In general, exports, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ski-suit exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 83% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Myanmar (X units), Bangladesh (X units), Democratic People's Republic of Korea (X units), Vietnam (X units), Pakistan (X units) and Bahrain (X units) - together made up 14% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to ski-suit exports from China stood at -2.5%. At the same time, Bahrain (+20.3%), Pakistan (+5.9%), Myanmar (+3.4%) and Bangladesh (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +20.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (-7.3%) and Vietnam (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Vietnam (-2.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest ski-suit supplier in Asia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 4.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to -3.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (-7.4% per year) and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (-2.4% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 7.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey (X units), Singapore (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +40.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kuwait ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 76% of total imports.

Kuwait, with a CAGR of +43.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
