In 2022, exports of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles in Asia surged to X units, increasing by 81% against 2021 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 112%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, knitted ski-suit exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 87% of total exports in 2022. India (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Turkey (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles exports, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Turkey (-5.1%) and India (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+35 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkey (-3.5 p.p.) and India (-31.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest knitted ski-suit supplier in Asia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 1.7% share.

In China, knitted ski-suit exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (-0.2% per year) and India (-11.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -5.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 173%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Knitted ski-suit imports expanded sharply to X units in 2022, with an increase of 11% compared with 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 52%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand represented the largest importer of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles in Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 45% of total imports in 2022. India (X units) held a 9.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Japan (7.9%), South Korea (6.3%), Iraq (5.1%) and Azerbaijan (4.9%). The United Arab Emirates (X units), Kazakhstan (X units), Qatar (X units) and Afghanistan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles imports, with a CAGR of +60.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Afghanistan (+56.9%), Azerbaijan (+39.9%), Iraq (+33.9%), Japan (+33.3%), Kazakhstan (+29.3%), Qatar (+6.1%) and India (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, South Korea (-13.6%) and the United Arab Emirates (-14.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Thailand, Japan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan increased by +44, +7.3, +4.9, +4.8, +3.1 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest knitted ski-suit importing markets in Asia were South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and Thailand ($X), together accounting for 41% of total imports. These countries were followed by Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 26%.

Afghanistan, with a CAGR of +60.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -21.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 49%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
