Talc And Steatite Market Size in Asia

The Asian talc and steatite market contracted modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by -3.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 7.8%. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 57%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, talc and steatite exports shrank to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

China was the main exporter of talc and steatite in Asia, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 42% of total exports in 2022. India (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Pakistan (X tons) and Afghanistan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 54% share of total exports. South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest talc and steatite supplier in Asia, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Pakistan, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to -1.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+13.5% per year) and Pakistan (+1.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Talc and steatite imports amounted to X tons in 2022, with an increase of 3.8% compared with the year before. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 60%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
