Total exports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. In China, tennis and badminton rackets exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+8.4% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-8.6% per year).

Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Malaysia (-2.6%) and Hong Kong SAR (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of India, China, Indonesia and Japan increased by +28, +7.7, +4.2 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 39% share of total imports. Japan, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan (Chinese), Thailand and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 53%.
Among the main importing countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +15.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
