In 2022, China (X tons) was the main exporter of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone, committing 59% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and India (X tons), together mixing up a 25% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Israel (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to concrete tile exports from China stood at +8.4%. At the same time, India (+32.7%), Thailand (+12.9%), Vietnam (+10.0%), Israel (+1.5%) and Turkey (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +32.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Malaysia (-8.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+11 p.p.), Thailand (+6.1 p.p.) and India (+4.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Israel (-1.6 p.p.), Turkey (-4.1 p.p.) and Malaysia (-10 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest concrete tile supplier in Asia, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +20.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+27.7% per year) and India (+36.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concrete tile imports expanded to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The countries with the highest levels of concrete tile imports in 2022 were Iraq (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Israel (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), China (X tons), Thailand (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Macao SAR (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together resulting at 73% of total import. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +46.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concrete tile importing markets in Asia were China ($X), South Korea ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 35% share of total imports. Israel, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Iraq, Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Kazakhstan and Macao SAR lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +42.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, concrete tile import price increased by +67.7% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
