Travel Set Market Size in Asia
In 2021, the Asian travel set market decreased by -15.4% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total consumption indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
Travel Set Production in Asia
In value terms, travel set production shrank to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +65.2% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports in Asia
In 2021, shipments abroad of travel sets decreased by -7.2% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +80.9% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, travel set exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 93% of total exports in 2021. Turkey (X units) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to travel set exports from China stood at +6.6%. At the same time, Turkey (+51.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +51.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of China (+17 p.p.) and Turkey (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest travel set supplier in Asia, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 3.8% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while China amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+3.0%).
Travel Set Imports
Imports in Asia
In 2021, the amount of travel sets imported in Asia fell modestly to X units, dropping by -3.9% compared with 2020 figures. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -32.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, travel set imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the key importer of travel sets in Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was approx. 42% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), Malaysia (X units), Indonesia (X units), Qatar (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units), together achieving a 37% share of total imports. The following importers - South Korea (X units), Yemen (X units), Iraq (X units) and Japan (X units) - together made up 11% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to travel set imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +12.2%. At the same time, Turkey (+43.9%), Iraq (+27.4%), Indonesia (+27.0%), South Korea (+7.9%) and Malaysia (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +43.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Qatar (-2.7%), Yemen (-4.7%), Japan (-6.7%) and Hong Kong SAR (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq and South Korea increased by +25, +11, +5.9, +2.5, +2 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported travel sets in Asia, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +11.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+44.1% per year) and Qatar (+2.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 3.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
