Tuner Block Market Size in Asia

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Asian tuner block market, when its value increased by 29% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tuner block production reached $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a abrupt contraction. In 2021, shipments abroad of tuner blocks increased by 3.9% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tuner block exports declined modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

China dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was near 80% of total exports in 2021. Vietnam (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 5.4% share, followed by Hong Kong SAR (5%). Thailand (X units) and Singapore (X units) held a little share of total exports.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of tuner blocks. At the same time, Singapore (+50.5%), Vietnam (+21.5%) and Thailand (+13.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest tuner block supplier in Asia, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with an 8.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 7.6% share.

In China, tuner block exports plunged by an average annual rate of -3.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+16.1% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-1.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -5% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 47%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tuner block imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, India (X units), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), Singapore (X units), South Korea (X units) and the Philippines (X units) were the major importers of tuner blocks, together achieving 73% of total imports. The following importers - Japan (X units), Thailand (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units), Turkey (X units), Israel (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Vietnam (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +27.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
