In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest uncooked pasta supplier in Asia, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 8.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +18.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+6.3% per year) and Thailand (+3.3% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, waning by -8.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, uncooked pasta imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Japan (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) represented the key importer of uncooked pasta in Asia, committing 38% of total import. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), China (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons), together making up a 26% share of total imports. Yemen (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Oman (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +28.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest uncooked pasta importing markets in Asia were Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and Iraq ($X), with a combined 41% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +33.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
