The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Japan (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) represented the key importer of uncooked pasta in Asia, committing 38% of total import. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), China (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons), together making up a 26% share of total imports.
