In 2021, the Asian video projector market increased by 9% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Asia
In 2021, video projector exports in Asia totaled X units, remaining constant against 2020. In general, exports recorded a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, video projector exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 27%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) represented the main exporter of video projectors, creating 75% of total exports. The Philippines (X units) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hong Kong SAR (4.9%).
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the video projectors exports, with a CAGR of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021. Hong Kong SAR (-8.7%) and the Philippines (-24.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Philippines (+16 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-12 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest video projector supplier in Asia, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.
In China, video projector exports declined by an average annual rate of -4.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (+5.2% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-15.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+39.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, imports of video projectors in Asia surged to X units, jumping by 29% against the year before. Overall, imports showed tangible growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, video projector imports reached $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Thailand represented the major importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 35% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Japan (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), South Korea (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together achieving a 39% share of total imports. China (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), the Philippines (X units), India (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the video projectors imports, with a CAGR of +35.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+15.1%), Indonesia (+12.1%), South Korea (+11.3%) and China (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines and Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.8%), India (-4.2%), Hong Kong SAR (-7.4%) and Singapore (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+32 p.p.), Japan (+9.3 p.p.), South Korea (+3.4 p.p.), the Philippines (+3.2 p.p.) and Indonesia (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-3.6 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (-3.8 p.p.), Singapore (-6.7 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-20.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
