The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 26%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, textile wadding exports stood at $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

China was the largest exporter of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof in Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 37% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Turkey (X tons), India (X tons), Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons), together creating a 44% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. These countries were followed by India, Turkey, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Iran, Hong Kong SAR, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Kyrgyzstan, which together accounted for a further 33%.

Among the main importing countries, Iran, with a CAGR of +25.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
