The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, wheeled loader exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

China represented the key exporter of wheeled loaders, crawler shovel loaders, front-end loaders in Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 55% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Japan (X units) and South Korea (X units), together constituting a 40% share of total exports. India (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +31.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the Philippines (X units), distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), Thailand (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Japan (X units) were the largest importers of wheeled loaders, crawler shovel loaders, front-end loaders, together making up 57% of total imports. The following importers - Israel (X units), India (X units), South Korea (X units), Vietnam (X units), Sri Lanka (X units) and Turkey (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.

Imports into the Philippines increased at an average annual rate of +25.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+31.6%), Japan (+14.0%), Sri Lanka (+8.3%), Kazakhstan (+6.6%), Thailand (+6.4%) and Israel (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +31.6% from 2012-2021. Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Indonesia (-1.4%), South Korea (-4.3%), the United Arab Emirates (-5.5%), Turkey (-5.6%) and Saudi Arabia (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (+16 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+4.3 p.p.), Thailand (+3.6 p.p.), Japan (+3.4 p.p.), India (+2.9 p.p.) and Israel (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -3% and -19% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest wheeled loader importing markets in Asia were Turkey ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), with a combined 25% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Kazakhstan, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, India, Israel, Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, which together accounted for a further 49%.

Among the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +27.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
