Vietnam represented the major exporting country with an export of about X cubic meters, which resulted at 73% of total exports. Malaysia (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Indonesia (9.5%).
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates exports, with a CAGR of +38.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+24.5%) and Malaysia (+14.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Vietnam (+39 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Indonesia and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -2% and -24.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates supplier in Asia, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam amounted to +40.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+4.5% per year) and Indonesia (+19.6% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, picking up by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per cubic meter), while Indonesia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia
Imports of wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates surged to X cubic meters in 2021, rising by 54% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 161%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, imports of wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 172%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, South Korea (X cubic meters) and Japan (X cubic meters) represented the main importer of wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates in Asia, making up 97% of total import.
