The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, man-made filament yarn exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

China was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 56% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons) and Turkey (X tons), together creating a 30% share of total exports. The following exporters - Pakistan (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - together made up 6.8% of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Pakistan (+35.0%) and India (+18.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +35.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Indonesia (-1.4%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-11.5%) and Turkey (-17.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India, China and Pakistan increased by +19, +18 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest man-made filament yarn supplier in Asia, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +5.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+14.0% per year) and Turkey (-16.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of man-made filament yarn, when their volume increased by 26% to X tons. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the key importers of man-made filament yarn in Asia, together achieving 37% of total imports. India (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 8.9% share, followed by China (7.8%), Indonesia (7.2%), Bangladesh (7%) and the Philippines (4.6%). Thailand (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +16.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 43% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Jordan, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 47%.

Among the main importing countries, Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +18.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 4.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 5% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
