The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, apple juice imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 75%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Australia was the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 65% of total imports. New Caledonia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by New Zealand (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 29% share of total imports. The following importers - Vanuatu (X tons) and Papua New Guinea (X tons) - each recorded a 3.6% share of total imports.
Imports into Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -2.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, New Caledonia (+9.7%) and Vanuatu (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Caledonia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, New Zealand (-6.7%) and Papua New Guinea (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of New Caledonia (+9.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Papua New Guinea (-2.8 p.p.) and New Zealand (-6.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported apple juice (single strength) in Australia and Oceania, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by New Caledonia, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Australia stood at +4.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (-6.7% per year) and New Caledonia (+7.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 4.6% against the previous year.
