The shipments of the one major exporters of barley, namely Australia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
In value terms, barley imports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 289% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
New Zealand represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to 88% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Caledonia (X tons), creating an 11% share of total imports.
Imports into New Zealand increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, New Caledonia (+66.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Caledonia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +66.5% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of New Caledonia increased by +11 percentage points.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported barley in Australia and Oceania, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Caledonia ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in New Zealand totaled +15.8%.
Import Prices by Country
