Exports in Australia and Oceania
In 2021, shipments abroad of bicycles and other cycles decreased by -4% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 617% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, bicycle exports declined sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 534% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Australia prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), making up a 7.2% share of total exports.
Australia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the bicycles and other cycles exports, with a CAGR of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021. New Zealand (-7.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Australia (+92 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while New Zealand saw its share reduced by -79.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest bicycle supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.

The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, bicycle imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 311%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Australia (X units) was the key importer of bicycles and other cycles, constituting 79% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), constituting a 14% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Australia increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Papua New Guinea (+5.9%) and New Zealand (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth.
