In value terms, breathing appliances exports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 81%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Australia represented the key exporter of breathing appliances and gas masks in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 61% of total exports in 2022. New Zealand (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by French Polynesia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 36% share of total exports. New Caledonia (X units) took a little share of total exports.
Australia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of breathing appliances and gas masks. At the same time, French Polynesia (+68.4%) and New Caledonia (+17.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, French Polynesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +68.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, New Zealand (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of French Polynesia and New Caledonia increased by +9 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest breathing appliances supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by New Caledonia, with a 3.2% share.
In Australia, breathing appliances exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (+0.9% per year) and New Caledonia (+22.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 7.1% against the previous year. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. In value terms, breathing appliances imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a temperate increase. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units) and Fiji (X units), together committing a 15% share of total imports. French Polynesia (X units), New Caledonia (X units) and Papua New Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -1.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Fiji (+14.9%), French Polynesia (+10.9%), New Caledonia (+9.9%) and Papua New Guinea (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Fiji emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, New Zealand (-5.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Fiji (+3.8 p.p.), French Polynesia (+2 p.p.) and New Caledonia (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Australia (-3.1 p.p.) and New Zealand (-5.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported breathing appliances and gas masks in Australia and Oceania, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by New Caledonia, with a 1.8% share.
In Australia, breathing appliances imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (-0.6% per year) and New Caledonia (+5.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
