Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, French Polynesia (X tons) was the key importer of cauliflower and broccoli, making up 47% of total imports. Fiji (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by New Caledonia (7.7%), Australia (5.8%), Palau (5%) and Samoa (4.7%). Papua New Guinea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Among the main importing countries, Australia, with a CAGR of +108.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -8.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Fiji ($X per ton), while Australia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
