In 2021, after six years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, when their volume increased by 20% to X tons. Australia was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 88% of total exports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), achieving an 11% share of total exports.
Exports from Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -12.7% from 2012 to 2021. New Zealand (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest computing machinery supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Australia totaled -1.4%.

In 2021, purchases abroad of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof increased by 12% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after seven years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible slump. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, computing machinery imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Australia (X tons) was the major importer of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, making up 83% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), generating a 15% share of total imports.
