In value terms, coniferous wood in the rough exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 108% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Papua New Guinea was also the fastest-growing in terms of the coniferous wood in the rough exports, with a CAGR of -29.7% from 2012 to 2022. While the share of Papua New Guinea (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Papua New Guinea ($X) also remains the largest coniferous wood in the rough supplier in Australia and Oceania.

Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per cubic meter, rising by 6.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 100%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. In 2022, overseas purchases of coniferous wood in the rough decreased by -7.4% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, coniferous wood in rough imports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, coniferous wood in the rough imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 69%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Palau dominates imports structure, reaching X cubic meters, which was approx. 73% of total imports in 2022. Marshall Islands (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.1% share, followed by Kiribati (5%). New Caledonia (X cubic meters), Tonga (X cubic meters), Cook Islands (X cubic meters) and Samoa (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Palau increased at an average annual rate of +17.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cook Islands (+79.8%), Marshall Islands (+48.9%), Kiribati (+40.1%), New Caledonia (+12.8%) and Samoa (+8.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cook Islands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +79.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tonga (-22.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Palau (+70 p.p.), Marshall Islands (+8.1 p.p.), Kiribati (+4.9 p.p.), New Caledonia (+3.6 p.p.), Cook Islands (+2.4 p.p.) and Samoa (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Tonga (-3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Palau ($X), New Caledonia ($X) and Samoa ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 72% of total imports. These countries were followed by Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tonga and Cook Islands, which together accounted for a further 8.2%.
Marshall Islands, with a CAGR of +46.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per cubic meter, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 546% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Caledonia ($X per cubic meter), while Cook Islands ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Samoa (+15.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
