After seven years of decline, the crabs, not frozen market in Australia and Oceania increased by 60% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption, however, showed a sharp decline. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.
Crabs, Not Frozen Production in Australia and Oceania
In value terms, crabs, not frozen production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a sharp curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Australia and Oceania
In 2022, shipments abroad of crabs, not frozen decreased by -5.5% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 75% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, crabs, not frozen exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a precipitous setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Papua New Guinea (X tons) represented the main exporter of crabs, not frozen in Australia and Oceania, making up 99.9% of total export.
Papua New Guinea was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crabs, not frozen exports, with a CAGR of +55.9% from 2012 to 2022. While the share of Papua New Guinea (+99 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Papua New Guinea ($X) also remains the largest crabs, not frozen supplier in Australia and Oceania.

Export Prices by Country
The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 24%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Papua New Guinea.

Imports in Australia and Oceania
In 2022, approx. X tons of crabs, not frozen were imported in Australia and Oceania; standing approx. at 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 262%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, crabs, not frozen imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 250%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Guam (X tons) was the major importer of crabs, not frozen, comprising 70% of total imports. Samoa (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Palau (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 27% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X kg) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to crabs, not frozen imports into Guam stood at +4.4%. At the same time, Palau (+21.5%), Samoa (+7.8%) and New Caledonia (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Palau emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +21.5% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Palau and Samoa increased by +10 and +3.6 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest crabs, not frozen importing markets in Australia and Oceania were Guam ($X), Palau ($X) and New Caledonia ($X), together comprising 86% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, New Caledonia, with a CAGR of +9.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, growing by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 22%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Caledonia ($X per ton), while Guam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Caledonia (+4.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
