In 2022, shipments abroad of curtains and interior blinds increased by 4.1% to X square meters, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 64%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X square meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, curtains exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 45%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Australia (X square meters) was the largest exporter of curtains and interior blinds, mixing up 75% of total exports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X square meters), creating a 23% share of total exports. Fiji (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -4.0% from 2012 to 2022. New Zealand (-1.5%) and Fiji (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2022, supplies from abroad of curtains and interior blinds increased by 17% to X square meters, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, curtains imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Moreover, Papua New Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +30.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Papua New Guinea (+5.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of New Zealand (-1.7 p.p.) and Australia (-3.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
