In 2021, Australia (X tons) was the key importer of chalk and dolomite, generating 63% of total imports. New Zealand (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Micronesia (X tons) and Solomon Islands (X tons). All these countries together held near 34% share of total imports.
Imports into Australia increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Solomon Islands (+29.9%) and Micronesia (+19.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chalk and dolomite in Australia and Oceania, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Micronesia, with a 1.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Australia totaled +10.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (-3.3% per year) and Micronesia (+15.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
