Exports in Australia and Oceania
For the third consecutive year, Australia and Oceania recorded growth in shipments abroad of electrical fuses, which increased by 3.5% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, electrical fuse exports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Australia represented the major exporter of electrical fuses in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 67% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), comprising a 32% share of total exports.
Australia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electrical fuses exports, with a CAGR of +6.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, New Zealand (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Australia increased by +4.4 percentage points.
In value terms, Australia ($X) and New Zealand ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021.
New Zealand, with a CAGR of +8.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, waning by -3.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while Australia totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+4.0%).

Imports in Australia and Oceania
In 2021, overseas purchases of electrical fuses increased by 25% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a deep setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electrical fuse imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Australia (X tons) represented the main importer of electrical fuses, making up 63% of total imports. New Zealand (X tons) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Papua New Guinea (6.7%). New Caledonia (X tons), Fiji (X tons) and Marshall Islands (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -9.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, New Caledonia (+9.2%) and Papua New Guinea (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Caledonia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +9.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Fiji (-1.5%), Marshall Islands (-5.0%) and New Zealand (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and New Caledonia increased by +4.2, +4.2 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electrical fuses in Australia and Oceania, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by New Caledonia, with a 1.8% share.
In Australia, electrical fuse imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+3.2% per year) and New Caledonia (+3.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while Papua New Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+12.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
