New Zealand prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 84% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons) and Fiji (X tons), together making up a 13% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into New Zealand increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Fiji (+66.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Fiji emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +66.4% from 2012-2021. New Caledonia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Australia (-11.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. New Zealand (+15 p.p.) and Fiji (+5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Australia saw its share reduced by -17.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported gypsum and anhydrite in Australia and Oceania, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by New Caledonia, with a 3.7% share.
In New Zealand, gypsum and anhydrite imports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+0.5% per year) and New Caledonia (+2.5% per year).
