New Zealand (X tons) and Fiji (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up 96% of total exports. Australia (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for New Zealand (with a CAGR of +6.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives supplying countries in Australia and Oceania were Fiji ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Australia ($X).
In terms of the main exporting countries, New Zealand, with a CAGR of +7.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In 2021, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -14.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 135%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Fiji (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Australia and Oceania
In 2021, supplies from abroad of halogenated derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons increased by 25% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Australia was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 66% of total imports. New Zealand (X tons) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Fiji (7.5%). Palau (X tons) and Papua New Guinea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports into Australia stood at -5.9%. At the same time, Palau (+61.3%) and Fiji (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Palau emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +61.3% from 2012-2021. Papua New Guinea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, New Zealand (-6.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Fiji and Palau increased by +4.1 and +3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Fiji ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 95% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea and Palau lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 2.1%.
Among the main importing countries, Palau, with a CAGR of +34.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 7.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives import price increased by +90.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while Palau ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
