In 2022, New Zealand (X tons) was the largest exporter of chicken eggs, committing 60% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons), constituting a 39% share of total exports.

In value terms, New Zealand ($X) remains the largest chicken egg supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 29% share of total exports.

In value terms, chicken egg imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 73%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, New Zealand (X tons) was the major importer of chicken eggs, comprising 45% of total imports. Australia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Micronesia (12%) and Marshall Islands (7.8%). Palau (X tons), New Caledonia (X tons) and Kiribati (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to chicken egg imports into New Zealand stood at +34.8%. At the same time, Kiribati (+50.8%), Australia (+44.8%), Micronesia (+9.2%), Marshall Islands (+8.4%) and Palau (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, New Zealand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chicken eggs in Australia and Oceania, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Micronesia, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in New Zealand stood at +34.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Australia (+12.4% per year) and Micronesia (+19.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 2.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while Micronesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
