In value terms, exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

New Zealand was the major exporter of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 61% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons), mixing up a 38% share of total exports.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
